International M.Sc. Course on Communications Technology

Communications Technology, a two-year Master of Science Program which teaches a research-oriented curriculum with up-to-date content from telecommunications, optoelectronics, microelectronics, and microwave engineering has been preparing international students for exciting careers in today's global information society.

This web site is dedicated to provide you with in-depth information on the program and life at the University of Ulm, a highly ranked research university in the beautiful south of Germany.

Application-related announcements
The application period for the upcoming term is started.
Pre-applications can now be submitted for the term starting in March 2013.
All applicants to the Communications Technology program are required to complete the pre-application process, which provides you with feedback on your chances of admission.

Beware of Plagiarism! In 2011, we see an increasing number of Statements of Objectives which have been plagiarized from the web. If we find this, the applicant will be excluded immediately from further selection.

Student initiative for Pakistan

Students of the Communications Technology are very concerned about the devastation in Pakistan after the flood. Their engagement collecting more funds is supported by the president of the university. Under the supervision of the university a bank account has been opened for donations.

Alumni group on LinkedIn
We created a Communications Technology Alumni group on LinkedIn, a major social networking site oriented towards professionals. To date, it already has 44 members. Communications Technology Alumni interested in joining must register on LinkedIn, then simply search for the group. If you have questions, contact Professor Schumacher.

Germany number three global destination for foreign students

With 233.606 foreign students at German universities in 2008, the country ranked third after the USA and the UK, according to a study released by HIS GmbH.

Communications Technology alumnus Anas Chaaban, receipient of our best student award in 2008, received the VDE Award 2009 for his outstanding Master thesis. VDE is the German professional society for electrical and information engineering. The Ulm chapter gives one award each year to the best Master thesis in the School of Engineering Science.

Ulm is now officially the Healthiest City in Germany. A large assessment of factors like social and economic environment, access to health care, sports activities, air quality and climate, was performed by the Medical University Hannover under contract to large German insurer DAK and Healthy Living magazine. All 81 major German cities were investigated, and Ulm came out on top by scoring top ranks in most criteria. By the way, Ulm is also the third-sunniest city in Germany ...

As one of 10 German universities, the University of Ulm is included in the Times Higher Education Supplement Top 200 Universities of the World listing. Ulm is ranked at 158, which makes it number 7 among German universities. For a small and young school like ours, this is a very significant sign of the recognition our research and education is enjoying globally.
